Scad is here, er I am at Scad. I'm using Polaroids in my 2nd color theory project simply because I've realized that I am hording all this film but not taking any pictures. I thought this would be a way to get a good grade on an assignment and also take some Bad-A pictures as well.
Everything was going well until I tried to take the first photo. Nothing happened. no motor sound, no picture, no nothing. I tried a couple more times but in vain.
When I got back to the dorm, I took the pack out in a darkroom and tried to slide the darkslide back in so as to not expose any pictures. I thought I had it in the right away, but unfortunately I did not. To my horror, I had exposed all of the film.
So, trying to look on the bright side, I now have 10 blank polaroids to manipulate.
Yes, tragedy struck, but now to figure out what happened to my dear sweet sx-70.
I put the empty cartridge back into the camera to see if it would respond. It did not.
I'm pretty sure it was the battery contacts because when I pressed the shutter button nothing happened what so ever. I stuck a pencil inside the camera and tried to scrape the battery contacts. It looked like they had a little bit of rust or corrosion on them. It must have been just enough to prevent the flow of electricity.
After I scraped them with the pencil, she came back to life! Of course this is after I had a breakdown and bough another off of ebay.
Today I went around and actually took a few photos for my project. I'm pretty happy with the way most of them turned out. My sexy70 and I are still getting to know each other, however. I learned today to never turn the brightness wheel to the white, because the exposure will almost always be way too overexposed.
Scans to come soon.
