-20, +30, so 178 remaining.

Scad is here, er I am at Scad. I'm using Polaroids in my 2nd color theory project simply because I've realized that I am hording all this film but not taking any pictures. I thought this would be a way to get a good grade on an assignment and also take some Bad-A pictures as well.

Everything was going well until I tried to take the first photo. Nothing happened. no motor sound, no picture, no nothing. I tried a couple more times but in vain.

When I got back to the dorm, I took the pack out in a darkroom and tried to slide the darkslide back in so as to not expose any pictures. I thought I had it in the right away, but unfortunately I did not. To my horror, I had exposed all of the film.

So, trying to look on the bright side, I now have 10 blank polaroids to manipulate.

Yes, tragedy struck, but now to figure out what happened to my dear sweet sx-70.

I put the empty cartridge back into the camera to see if it would respond. It did not.

I'm pretty sure it was the battery contacts because when I pressed the shutter button nothing happened what so ever. I stuck a pencil inside the camera and tried to scrape the battery contacts. It looked like they had a little bit of rust or corrosion on them. It must have been just enough to prevent the flow of electricity.

After I scraped them with the pencil, she came back to life! Of course this is after I had a breakdown and bough another off of ebay.

Today I went around and actually took a few photos for my project. I'm pretty happy with the way most of them turned out. My sexy70 and I are still getting to know each other, however. I learned today to never turn the brightness wheel to the white, because the exposure will almost always be way too overexposed.

Scans to come soon.

September 1, -3 168 remaining.

Tiffany had just dyed her hair and I though it would be nice to take a few photos to document the fiery red. Of course the colors weren't represented properly. Oh well. I think they're cute anyway.

August 20, +40 171 Remaining

Went to Walgreens to meet someone to pick up a shirt. While I was there I thought it fit to stock up on their last remaining Polaroid Packs. Almost $18 each.

August 18, Drawing in trees, -2 131 Remaining.

I went to the arboretum to meet Tiffany and pose for her for a drawing she had been planning. I sat in a tree and read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil while she drew me.

On one of my breaks I took a couple Polaroids of her. After having realized 2 days before that the battery in the pack only lasts for about a month I've decided to take the remaining photos in the camera ASAP.

Yeah, so here they are.

August 16, Makin' Memories. -7. 133 remaining

Today Jeremy and I took the scanner and some other stuff over to his house to do some work and generally prepare for his departure to Lubbock. While we were at his house, I took two Polas of him holding the new Alabama Football magazine in which he was published.

It wasn't without sacrifice, though. At first when I tried to take the photo, it wouldnt take. Over and over I oushed that little red button, but to no avail. Finally I decided that it was a bad battery in the pack, so I had to sacrifice the three remaining exposures.

When I put a new pack in, it took about 10 excruciating seconds before it spat out the dark slide. Finally we took the photos.

After that, we walked outside to take a ride. I took two Polas of a discarded book below the curb next to the tire. The first was a bit overexposed. I turned the exposure wheel and toon another. Still a little underexposed but I didnt want to waste anymore.

Then, we went out on an escapade that I will not soon forget. We packed up in the old, smelly, light blue, beaten down car that is the LeSabre.

Late Afternoon with Windows Down and Wind It Up by Gwen Stefani blaring, Jeremy and I drove arund Auburn for about an hour. The whole time I had his xti wrapped around my hand and hanging out the window, taking photographs of whatever he told me to and whatever else I thought was significant.

One of the stops we made was an old house our father once lived in. There was a man outside smoking a cigar. So, naturally, we engaged in conversation. He was a really nice guy, and he actually turned out to be the father of someone I knew at the high school. Anyway, I took his Polaroid Poratrait and we went on our way.

During the hustle and bustle of everything, I apparently lost the two Polaroids I took of the book. Very sad.

After graduation waffles. -4 140 remaining.

Yesterday was Graduation. Er, I guess two days ago. My sleep schedule has been raped by the graduation party which lasted until 3 the next morning. On top of that the gang and I decided to go to waffle house, just like every other red blooded high school student. While we were there I took a few photos to document the great time we had and the friends we spent it with. Touching? Yes.

-2 144 Remaining

I kind of broke out of my mold yesterday photo-wise. I went out on a limb and bought 15 red balloons to go and have some fun with.

I dont know why it was so hard but actually being proactive and taking photos that I actually thought of and executed really inspired me and helped me get out of my "slump" as I call it. Up until now, I had mostly taken photos of things I had found and, frankly, I was tired of it.

Put simply...its hard. You go out sometimes confident that you're going to come back home with a masterpiece, but instead you get 300 photos that you don't like. Its really frustrating and quite discouraging when you get right down to it.

Also, recently I have come to the realization that, for some time, I had been taking photographs just because of the cameras I have. I collect older cameras and use them as much as I can, most of them taking 120 film. That's great and all, but I have been using them poorly. Its like a writing getting a brand new fountain pen and writing gibberish. So, I think, having realized that, I can also come out of that too and return to getting quality work.

Bleah, anyway. Here are the two polaroids from yesterday. These are my favorite polaroids I have ever taken, so they will be big. Enjoy :-)
